Meet the founders of “Entangle”
Hello! We’re Rachel (she/her) and Caitlin (she/they) the song and dance duo behind Entangle, the immersive gallery taking place at Open Space September 13th & 14th. Ok, we’re actually not going to be singing and dancing.. though we might. Rachel is a visual artist with a focus on illustration and self-publishing while Caitlin is a song writer and community organizer. Imagine us both just sitting on the floor or at a desk scribbling away at something with a ukulele nearby and that would be an apt description of what we do.
We met at a house show hosted through Invisible Thread Events in winter 2022 and deepened the friendship in an abstract art workshop facilitated by Raina Verhey at Desert Cactus Lounge.
In these interactions we discovered many shared values and similarities: namely the power of art as a medium for connection and the transformative power of gathering in community in intimate inclusive spaces.
Caitlin envisioned Entangle as a way to challenge our community to explore collaborative, non-competitive projects—a vision Rachel eagerly embraced.
Through networking events, community drop-in workshops, and forging relationships with other curious-minded artists we shaped Entangle.
Entangle is the culmination of years of community building built by artist, for artists.
It is truly a from-the-heart brass tacks operation fostered by the generosity of our art’s community. We are two people with big dreams that were able to rally others to accept the challenge and foster collaboration.
The purpose of Invisible Thread events was to cultivate environments of connection, and in that it’s been a success. With over thirty visual and performance artists sharing their skills we’re excited to fill the room with a myriad of projects to dazzle, entertain, and ponder on.
As we approach the opening of Entangle, we are filled with immense gratitude for the creative energy and support that has made this event possible. This project is more than just an exhibit; it’s a celebration of collaboration, curiosity, and the power of art to bring people together. We invite you to join us in this immersive experience, where every piece of art and performance is a testament to what can be achieved when we connect, collaborate, and create with intention.
