Cultivating Safer Spaces

Hello friends,

I wanted to reach out and make a statement on behalf of Invisible Thread. Our mission statement says something like this: "We strive to empower creative voices and cultivate community in intimate spaces."

I want to adjust that.

"We strive to empower creative voices and cultivate community in safer intimate spaces."

At every event, intentions are made with this in mind. Rest assured, though policies and laws may change, we will be making every effort to make sure that you are seen, respected, accepted, and welcome in these spaces regardless of your race, ability, color, religion, sexuality, gender, sex and national origin. There is a zero-tolerance policy for hate and discrimination of ANY kind.

I can tell you that s a queer and gender non-conforming person, I am scared. I am overwhelmed with doom. And yet, I feel a hot fire rushing through my veins.

It doesn't feel like much I can offer, but I do believe in the power of community.
